Podi Kizhi

Herbal Poultice Therapy

Podi Kizhi is a traditional Ayurvedic therapy, originating from Kerala. A deeply restorative treatment, Podi Kizhi uses warm poultices filled with medicated herbal powders to release deep-seated tension, soothe inflammation, and promote mobility. This nourishing therapy is especially effective for joint pain, stiffness, and muscular discomfort, helping to restore ease and vitality to the body.

A serene elderly woman with long silver hair and a flower in her hair, wearing a striped robe, is mashing herbs with a mortar and pestle in a warmly lit room decorated with intricate patterns. There is a bowl of fresh herbs and a rolled cloth on the table in front of her.

What to Expect in a Session

Podi Kizhi, also known as Pinda Sweda uses a linen pouch filled with therapeutic herbal powders, gently warmed and massaged over the body with detoxifying Ayurvedic oils. The heat allows the medicinal properties of the herbs to penetrate deeply into muscles and joints, improving circulation, drawing out toxins, and relieving tension. The combination of warmth, herbs, and oil infusion calms the nervous system, reduces stress, improves flexibility, and leaves you deeply relaxed.

I offer two types of poultice treatments;

Detox & Mobility Podi Kizhi – supports circulation, detoxification, and overall mobility. It’s ideal for muscular fatigue, stiffness, and water retention, helping to release toxins and promote lightness in the body.

Joint Relief Podi Kizhi – designed for chronic pain conditions, including arthritis, stiffness, and inflammatory issues. The herbal poultice bags used contain anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties, easing discomfort while enhancing flexibility and movement.
