Act Like the Light: a Kabbalistic Practice

This morning, driving into work in the pouring rain, I felt unusually anxious and restless. A knot sat firmly lodged in my solar plexus. So I leaned in, in my usual way and spoke it out to the Creator, asking for strength and guidance. What came back was nothing new, but a strong reminder…

The reality I am experiencing is always being filtered through the lens I am looking through.

What I’ve learnt…

  • When I look through the lense of fear or lack, life feels contracted.

  • When I choose trust, it feels expansive.

  • Growth never happens in the absence of pressure; it happens because of it.

  • The internal squeeze I feel is often a sign that expansion is already underway.

One of the Kabbalah practices I try to live by is to, “Act like the Light.” The Light is the Creator’s essence, infinite wisdom, love, and abundance. To act like the Light means rising above ego and reactivity, and instead embodying dignity, integrity, and certainty. The ego contracts, compares, and fears. The Light expands, shares, and trusts. To act like the Light is to carry ourselves with purpose and self-respect, to respond rather than react, and to embody the wholeness we already are becoming.

From this place, the energy shifts. Doors open differently. We meet life with presence and authority, not as anxious fragments of ourselves, but as living channels of the Creator’s radiance.

The practice is simple: pause and ask…

  • What is this moment showing me?

  • Am I looking through the eyes of ego, or through the lens of my true self?

We do not need to control every twist of the journey. We only need to stay rooted in vision, flexible in approach, and resilient in spirit.
