Ayurvedic Tri-doshic Digestive Cleansing Soup

This Ayurvedic soup really hits the spot on a cold winter’s day. It’s suitable for all dosha types and contains all the 6 Rasas (tastes) which means it’s super satisfying and Ojas (immunity) building. It’s so easy to make too!

This soup helps to pacify Vata dosha and remove any excess mucus buildup (Kapha dosha) from the body. The sweetness of the coconut milk and peas makes it equally good for Pitta dosha.

It’s medicine for the body because:
Fennel is diuretic, blood cleansing, Tri-doshic
Peas are cooling, pacifying for Vata/ Pitta
Garlic is an expectorant, cleansing, antifungal and Vata/ Kapha reducing
Lemon is cleansing, Vata and Kapha reducing
Parsley is a digestive, detoxicant and pacifies Vata/ Kapha
Spinach is tri-doshic, detoxifying, and is an anti-inflammatory

How to make it;

  • Ghee or coconut oil

  • 1 can of coconut milk

  • Large fennel bulb

  • 1 onion

  • 2 cloves of garlic

  • 1 cup frozen peas

  • I small packet of baby spinach

  • Handful of fresh parsley

  • 1 Veg stock cube and a pint of water

  • Juice of half a lemon

Roast the fennel, onion and garlic in the ghee/ coconut oil, then add to a pan of simmering vegetable stock. Add peas and cook for 5 minutes. Add spinach, parsley and coconut milk and bring slowly to the boil. Squeeze in the juice of half a lemon, then blitz with a high powered blender.
